Whalehead Club
Just a short stroll from the resort, guests can explore the scenic trails leading to Currituck Heritage Park. The park features the historic Currituck Beach Lighthouse (built in 1876), the Outer Banks Center for Wildlife Education, and a Maritime Museum. Its main attraction is the Whalehead Club Historic House Museum. While entry to the park is free, there is a fee to visit the Whalehead Club.
Corolla Lighthouse
Climb the 220 steps to the top of the lighthouse for stunning views while discovering the rich history of the lighthouse. Learn about shipwrecks, the lives of the lighthouse keepers, and the story of the tower, which illuminated the last dark spot on the East Coast in 1875. Explore exhibits, brochures, and insights from docents, and marvel at the original 1st order Fresnel lens. The beacon still serves as an active aid to navigation, shining for 3 seconds on, 17 seconds off.
